33 weeks

So, since my first visit to Covenant, (Partners in OB/GYN) I have been down several more times.  My 32 week appointment started with an ultrasound.  Baby is measuring at a week ahead.  Everything else looks good.  My 32 week appointment, I had felt pretty bad-lots of contractions-the night before.  I had a feeling something had changed.  I was dilated to 1 so they sent me to Labor and Delivery to be observed and get steroid shots.  They sent me home after 3 hours.  I came back the next day to get my next shot.  Then, I had an appointment for the first day of my 33rd week.  There was a large snow storm forcasted so I went the day before.  I was not dilated any more.  I then had a very hard weekend with lots of contractions, pain and uncomfortableness as well as itching.  There was another storm Monday but I still went down with Grandma Diane and Grandpa Tim.  No more dilation, 50% thinned out, Group B strep test was done.  I had to give blood to be tested for cholestasis.  We waited for an hour and a half for the Ffn test.  It was negative so that means 90% chance I won't go into labor in the next week.  I'm not so sure though.  I had a negative one 2 days before I had Afton.  We will see!
I am getting VERY excited to see this baby!  I have been off work since Dec 15-28 weeks.  It is now Jan 26 and I feel very restless!  My cousin has been staying with us since Jan 1 to help with Afton and the new baby when it gets here.  What a help!!  Not only with Afton but to help me keep sane!  I have also been studying VBACs and natural births.  I have made a birth plan and am very excited to work through it!

Getting close!---31 weeks, almost!

The last month and a half has been very interesting!  After my peeing incident, I started having contractions often.  I went into the hospital on Dec 12 after having contractions every 2 minutes.  They were able to slow them down with terbutaline and sent me home with a prescription for Procardia.  Two days later I was so light headed, puking and dizzy.  I decided not to take any on the morning of the 14th.  I called the doctor to see what I should do.  He told me to come in.  They tried to slow down the contractions but weren't able to.  They kept me overnight and sent me home with the Procardia at half the original dose.  It still gives me headaches but I'm not puking!  (that was at 27 weeks).  I was also told I had to stop working.  I was off Wednesday until Sunday then went back Monday to finish things up for the sub.  I have been off work since.  Over Christmas break,  I went to see Dr. Rellihan in Waterloo, from the same practice as I went to with my first.  I had decided to do this for a few reasons.  First, if this baby comes before 34 weeks, they will send it to another hospital (if I deliver at Mercy).  They also have a VBAC ban which is ridiculous!  I would have to stay in the hospital to recover and my baby would be halfway across the state!  So, right before 30 weeks, I went to Covenant.  I am VERY excited!  They are willing to do a VBAC and want to see me once a week.  They also will not move the baby due to gestational age.  They have an AMAZING labor and delivery area that is one floor down from the office.  I had a negative FfN test so this week has been pretty relaxed.   She also took me off the Procardia because it lowers my blood pressure and doesn't seem to be slowing the contractions.  So, all in all, I am really excited about this all now!  I go back tomorrow, the day before I turn 31 weeks for an ultrasound, appointment and tour of L&D.

25 weeks

okay, so a week and a half ago, I had another ultrasound.  My cervix went from 2.7 to 2.  I had to see the dr again the next day and he came in and said I needed a cerclage.  Then he saw I was almost 24 weeks and decided it would be okay if he just watched me.  He did put me on modified bedrest.  I am still able to work but have to teach from my desk.  I am also not supposed to be lifting (how am I not gonna lift my 1 year old?) and sit as much as possible as well as pelvic rest. Then the day before Thanksgiving-23w4days I was having some contractions (normal for me) and then suddenly I felt some wetness.  I freaked out, woke Afton from her nap and rushed to the hospital.  come to find out, I had a yeast infections, but my water didn't break, I guess I just peed myself!  Phew!  Have another ultrasound on Tuesday-25w3d.

11/11/11

Just a quick update.  After 3 appointments in four days, they came to the decision I will not need a cerclage yet.  I measured at 2.7 cm.  I have to have ultra sounds every other week and see the doctor every other week.  Along with the visits for my P17 shot, I am going every week to Mason.  Other than that, thing are going great!
I feel pretty good and this baby KICKS like crazy!  All day, all night!
I also applied to become an accredited breastfeeding counselor through Breastfeeding USA.
All in all, life is great!

21 weeks!

So, Oct 27, yesterday, we had our ultrasound.  I was supposed to be 19 wks 4 days but the ultrasound said i was 21 weeks-YAY!  (skipping 2 weeks is good!)  Dad found out what the sex is and told big sister, Aunt Lan and grandma!  I decided not to find out but I think it's a boy!  The scary part was that they told me my cervix is short.  Went to the doctor today and he said he would show the ultrasound to Dr. Wong, the perinatologist.  They will let me know if I need to get a cerclage or if we are just gonna monitor it.  Either way, I will probably be having u/s every week to two weeks.  I'm not worrying, though, things will all be okay!

18 weeks

Dr. appt at 14 weeks and we had another ultrasound since I was worried-needlessly.  Everything looks good!  Dr. L told me to take magnesium oxide 500mg and riboflavin -50 mg for my headaches.  Started the magnesium right away and it seemed to help a bit.  Just got the riboflavin.  Headaches are almost gone.  At 16 weeks my students noticed my belly was bigger, measured it at 39 inches-it was 36 the day before.  One week later it was 41 inches.  Now, at almost 19 weeks, it is 42.  I've never thought to do that before, it's kinda fun!
Milk is still low but Afton is still nursing (and cutting molar-ouch!).  I'm not getting much sleep which doesn't help at all.  I also decided to become a La Leche League leader since we don't have one around here.  I think it will take me about a year.  I'm excited!
Go back for ultrasound in a week!  Maybe know sex then?

14 weeks

Okay, so now I am 14 weeks.  No major changes.  Haven't gained any weight.  I go to the doctor tomorrow.  I have had Major headaches for 3 weeks straight, though!  From when I wake up to when I go to bed.  Awful!  It also wakes me up at night so I'm exhausted!  Baby is still nursing but I think my milk is VERY low!  I hope I get some ideas for both of those things tomorrow!
That's it for now!

Baby still nursing fine.  Due date moved to March 18

Oops!

8/27/11
Ooops, I haven't been very good at writing in this!  Here's a quick update.  Between 6 & 8 weeks, I had morning sickness.  Well, upset stomach but minimal vomiting.  Right in the middle of that we went to Montana so I was miserable!  At 9 weeks we went to the Dr.  I had lost 10 lbs (no clue how!) but no big deal.  We had an ultrasound-my first 3D one!  Really cool!  Dr. LaDuc is going to put me on 17p shots one a week like I was on with Afton.  We will start that around week 16.  I am starting 11 weeks today and felt tbe baby move 2 days ago!  Very exciting!  Started school 3 days ago.  Very tiring!  Afton is really needy and very much a momma's girl this week.  She's just started walking though which is fun!  Alexia is getting so grown up.  Started third grade!
Thats all the new updates!  I will try to do this more often-it will make me happy!

Surprise, it's positive!

I'm decided to start this blog because we just found out we were pregnant with baby number 3! With the first two, I wrote journals but always seemed to forget about them and missed important info so I decided maybe this would be easier. I want to tell about my pregnancy, week by week and maybe have something for my child to read when they are older.
Sooo, I just had my second daughter August 1, 2010. Dad and I decided to start trying again in September, but....I was trying to get on a regular cycle and took a test on the 6th of July and it said "Pregnant" (you know, one of those fancy digital ones). Called Dad, he didn't believe me, told me to tell him the truth, then made me take another while I was on the phone with him. We were both pretty much in shock. (I took 5 tests total over the next 2 days, just to make sure).
I worry about if the baby will be healthy, since I had a pretty hard pregnancy last time and two preemies. Also worry about how much work I am going to miss. I will probably be on bedrest from January till the baby is born, then 6-8 weeks off. Will it be born in February? Early?-Due date is March 10.
I made an appointment with the nurse in a couple weeks and another with the doctor in August. I go back to school the middle of August and wonder if I should tell the principal in case he needs to find somebody else to take my students to Puerto Rico in December.
Physically, I'm a bit more tired, but I've been very busy. I've had some slight cramping but nothing serious. My hands started itching (I had this nasty Cholestasis last time-made me itch like CRAZY!) but I think it's too soon for that to start again!
Oh, and I'm still nursing so I'm worried my boobs are gonna start hurting too bad to keep it up. Younger Dear Daughter (the baby) seems a bit distracted while nursing but still wants to as often as normal. Is she gonna wean herself or will I have to try and feed them both? We will see!
